Jacobs Entertainment, Inc is hiring for a seasonal, part-time Deckhand through December 2026 to work on Lady Caroline. Lady Caroline offers a unique opportunity to experience “The Land” from the water, cruising Lake Erie and the Cuyahoga River while traveling under historic jackknife bridges and taking in the downtown Cleveland skyline. All regular lunch, brunch and dinner cruises include a freshly prepared buffet and entertainment, while themed events can include happy hours, murder mystery productions, wine tastings and concession-based dining options.
Ongoing learning and development programs are available to work towards future advancement within the company—most supervisors and managers are promoted from within.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversees passenger comfort and safety, maintaining safe standards for vessel operation
- Handles lines
- Maintains ship cleanliness and appearance and conducts general ship maintenance
- Immediately reports any/all incidents to Captain
- Maintains ongoing communication with all shipboard employees while ship is away from its mooring
- Assists and oversees vessel and passenger security screening during boarding and while underway
- Operates marine radio
Qualifications / Requirements
- At least 18 years of age (per Transportation Worker Identification Credential )
- Identification that establishes identity and the right to work in the United States
- Red Cross CPR certificate (per United States Coast Guard)
- Pass United States Coast Guard required DOT 5 Panel urine screening
- Friendly and outgoing personality
- Ability to stand for up to 8 hours during shift
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs
- Must be available nights, weekends and holidays
- Marine-maritime training preferred but not required
