Marine Fork Lift Operator

Job Overview

Huron Lagoons Marina is looking for a full-time Marine Fork Lift Operator responsible for the safe movement of vessels between storage and launch, from lift well to dock, securing boats and maintaining a safe and clean working environment. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Dock maintenance including but not limited to repairs.
  • Handling of boats from water to storage in fall and from storage to launch in the spring and racking boats with fork lift in season.
  • To help and assist other employees wherever and whenever needed.
  • Daily inspection and maintenance of equipment and provide a clean and safe work area.
  • Help maintain facility grounds and docks.
  • Equipment basic maintenance.
  • Availability to work overtime when required.
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays.
  • Help with dock removal in fall and replace in spring.
  • Help with shrink wrap.
  • Help with boat waxing and buffing and bottom painting.

Qualifications / Requirements 

  • Marina experience: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Lift truck operation minimum 1 year
  • Basic mechanical skills
  • Ability to work safely around the water
  • Must be able to swim
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Basic boat handling skills (preferred)
  • Knowledge of basic power tools
  • Must have own tools
  • Professional appearance
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service and an understanding of customers’ needs
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills while working both independently and within a team context
  • Organizational skills are a must
  • Demonstrates ability to prioritize and work unsupervised
