
Job Overview
Riverfront Marine is seeking a full-time Service Writer & Parts Associate to serve as the primary point of contact for customers bringing vessels in for service or repairs, and to support the parts counter operation. This dual role requires exceptional communication skills, strong marine product knowledge, and the organizational ability to manage multiple open repair orders while coordinating effectively between customers and the technical team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Greet customers at check-in; conduct thorough intake interviews to document service requests, concerns, and vessel history accurately
- Open, manage, and close repair orders using the shop management system; ensure accurate capture of labor, parts, and sublet charges
- Communicate estimates, authorizations, and status updates to customers in a timely and professional manner
- Coordinate scheduling of work with Service Manager and technicians to meet promised delivery dates
- Identify and source required parts using marine parts catalogs, supplier websites, and dealer portals; place and track orders
- Receive and check in parts orders; notify technicians and customers of parts availability
- Manage the parts counter: assist walk-in customers with parts identification, over-the-counter sales, and special orders
- Process warranty claim documentation in coordination with technicians and manufacturer guidelines
- Prepare and present customer invoices; process payments and maintain accurate transaction records
- Maintain organized filing of repair orders, warranty documentation, and parts invoices
- Follow up with customers post-service to ensure satisfaction and address any outstanding concerns
- Assist with parts inventory cycle counts and stocking as required
Qualifications / Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a marine service writing, parts, or dealership role strongly preferred
- Genuine enthusiasm for and knowledge of recreational boating, powerboats, sailboats, and marine systems
- Proficiency with dealer management software (CDK, Lightspeed, ARI, or similar) preferred
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret parts microfiche, catalogs, and online parts systems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to translate technical information for non-technical customers
- Strong organizational skills with ability to manage 20+ open repair orders simultaneously
- Positive, solution-oriented attitude in high-pressure or difficult customer situations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer literacy required
- Valid driver’s license required
